April's life is recounted in flashbacks as she meets people and visits places that are significant to her. Both Wilson and critics responded positively to the film, with Wilson saying she thought it was the best film adaptation of any of her works. It was released on DVD on 12 January 2009. Dustbin Baby was awarded the International Emmy in the Children and Young People category at the 2009 ceremony. Helen Blakeman won a Children's BAFTA for the screenplay, while the film itself was shortlisted for a Children's BAFTA in the Drama category and shortlisted for the Kids' Vote award. The film was also awarded the 2010 KidScreen Award for Best One-off, Special, or TV movie aimed at a Family Audience and the KidScreen Award for Best Acting.
Dusty's Treehouse is a children's television program which starred Stu Rosen and featured the puppets of Tony Urbano. Rosen was the creator and co-executive producer, and based it on a program he did in 1966-67 on KCET, then an NET station in Los Angeles. The show won eight Emmy Awards. Dusty's Treehouse originated from KNXT, the local CBS flagship TV station in Los Angeles. It ran from 1970-1980 and was briefly syndicated nationally, and then appeared in reruns on the children's cable TV channel Nickelodeon for four additional seasons. The show consisted of Dusty's conversations in his treehouse with his animal friends, including Maxine the crow, Scooter the squirrel, and Stanley the red-haired spider in sneakers. Dusty also went on field trips to factories to see how products were made. Shadow puppets enacted fairy tales too.
Dustin's Daily News is an Irish television chat/comedy show, broadcast on RTÉ Two. The show is hosted by Dustin the Turkey of The Den, with his assistant Sinéad Ni Churnain as a co-host. Two series have been produced. The first series began on 19 September 2005 and ran until 29 April 2006. The second series was aired between September 2006 and April 2007. The show takes place in the Dublin Mountains where Dustin has established his own network news channel. While Dustin is always able to avoid getting captured by the butcher in the opening sequence, he has had another villain to contend with during the run of the show. The infamous Martin Duck planned a takeover of Dustin's news channel, but he was foiled by gardaí.
The Dustbinmen is a British television sitcom made by Granada Television for ITV, which starred Bryan Pringle, Trevor Bannister, Graham Haberfield, and Tim Wylton. The show was a spin-off from a one-off 90-minute TV film "There's a Hole in Your Dustbin, Delilah" written by Jack Rosenthal and directed by Michael Apted. This led to the sitcom which ran for three series between 1969 and 1970. Rosenthal wrote all of the episodes of the first two series.
